Memory verse
“Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.””
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus told the people, "I am the light of the world." He said that whoever followed him would not walk in darkness but would have the light of life. Jesus was teaching in Jerusalem, where people had gathered for a festival. His words gave them a picture they could understand: light helps us see where we are going.
We use lights to find a path at night or to make a room bright. Jesus' words are a picture of the guidance and life he offers. Christians follow his teaching by learning to love God and care for other people. When something is confusing, they can remember what Jesus taught and ask a trusted person for help. This verse encourages people to stay close to Jesus and walk in his light.
Questions to ask
- What helps you see in the dark?
- Who can help you find the right way when you are unsure?
- How can Jesus' teaching guide the choices people make?
