Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Paul wrote that Christians could take up the shield of faith. A shield could protect someone, and Paul used it as a picture of trusting God. Faith could help people stand firm when they felt afraid, discouraged or tempted to do wrong. Paul mentioned fiery darts, but this coloring scene shows no attack. The shield is held safely at the child's side. The armor helped readers remember that they were not alone. We can talk with God, ask for help and remember what is true when something feels difficult.
Questions to ask
- What is the child holding?
- What did Paul compare to a shield?
- What helps you keep trusting God when something is difficult?
