“The dove came back to him at evening, and, behold, in her mouth was a freshly plucked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the waters were abated from the earth.”
Genesis 8:11 · WEB

The story behind this colouring sheet

After the rain stopped, the ark floated on the water for a long, long time. Noah wanted to know if the land was dry yet, so he opened a window and sent out a dove.

The first time, the dove couldn't find anywhere to land, so it flew back to the ark. Noah waited seven more days and sent it out again. That evening the dove came back with a fresh olive leaf in its beak! Now Noah knew the water was going down and trees were growing again.

Noah waited patiently until God told him it was time to come out of the ark.

Talk about it

  1. Why do you think Noah sent the dove out more than once?
  2. How do you think Noah felt when he saw the olive leaf?
  3. Noah had to wait a long time. When is it hard for you to be patient?
