Memory verse
““The lord said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”
Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus told a story about a man who prepared a great banquet and invited many guests. When the meal was ready, the invited people gave excuses and did not come. The host sent his servant to bring in people from the streets and lanes. There was still room, so the servant went farther out and invited more people. The house filled with guests who might not usually have been included. Jesus used the story to show that God's welcome is generous. The people listening could picture a table with plenty of room. We can remember the story when we invite someone to join us, share a meal or make room for a new friend.
Questions to ask
- What food is on the table?
- Who did the servant invite?
- What does the host's welcome teach us about including others?
