Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus told of a master who was going on a journey. He entrusted his money to three servants, giving each a different amount according to their ability. Two servants put the money to work and gained more. The third buried his bag in the ground because he was afraid. When the master returned, he praised the two servants who had used what he gave them. The story encouraged people to use their abilities and opportunities faithfully instead of hiding them. We all have different skills and resources. We can use them to help, learn and do good. Jesus' story reminds us that what we are given can be put to thoughtful use.
Questions to ask
- How many servants are in the story?
- What did the third servant do with his money?
- What is one ability or opportunity you could use to help someone?
