Read the story together
A short version of the story to read aloud before colouring, with questions to ask afterwards.
Jesus told a story about a king who gathered people before him and separated them as a shepherd separates sheep from goats. The king praised those who had given food to the hungry, welcomed a stranger, shared clothing and visited someone who was sick or in prison. They were surprised and asked when they had done these things for him. The king said that whatever they had done for one of the least of his brothers and sisters, they had done for him. Jesus taught that caring for people matters deeply. We can notice someone who needs food, welcome or help and do what we can. Small acts of kindness are important.
Questions to ask
- Which two animals are in the picture?
- What did the people share with those in need?
- Who did Jesus say we are caring for when we help someone overlooked?
